It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of long-standing WDCC member Joan Miller Hubbard’s passing on August 26th. Joan was an incredible artist who created forms of nature in gold and silver, masterfully using repousse and chasing techniques. Her stunning jewelry incorporates precious and semi-precious stones that enhance and compliment the exquisite metalwork.
There will be a memorial at Good Shepherd Church, Menomonee Falls on Sept 11. Visitation is at 10 am with mass at 11 am and then reception following. Her obituary will be in the Milwaukee Journal 9/6 and 9/9.
Joan’s arts education is from UWM and Cranbrook academy of Art. She has shared her knowledge and touched many appreciative students where she taught at the College of Arts and Design, Parkside, UWM, MATC, Mount Mary University and Milwaukee public schools. She has garnered several impressive awards over her long career and been affiliated with many art organizations. Joan has exhibited her jewelry widely at prestigious shows and galleries throughout the United States and has had her work published in both the Lapidary Journal and Art Jewelry.
