Landscapes of the Mind (9)

Created on: 09 Apr 2020
These pieces deal with story telling and the importance of “place.” These are stories we have been told, tell ourselves and tell others to explain the world. The series “Landscapes of the Mind” presents dreamscapes, half-recalled memories or imagined places. A quote by Gabriel Garcia Márquez would inform a viewer’s interaction with those pieces: “Life is not what one lived, but what one remembers and how one remembers it in order to recount it.” These Landscapes may be nostalgic, puzzling, or symbolic.
There are not human figures in either of the series because the viewer is supposed to use their imagination to put themselves in them or populate the landscapes with others.
All pieces are hand-built stoneware with glazes and underglazes. Dimensions are H x W x D.
